Many larger website used Google Search Console to track there website performance and boost them. It is a free tool provided by the Google, which help users to understand there website traffic , analyze it and tell you about the keywords on which you are getting more clicks and impressions. It also have some more tools like URL Inspection tool, Sitemap submitter, Core Web Vitals to check the speed of your website.

All your website indexing depends on the GSC if you don't add your website in it, the site will not indexed. This tools tell the Google about your website and send a crawler on your website which analyze the website and index it. But many new users don't know how to use Google Search Console and in this guide we will help you with it.



1. Set Up and Verify Your Website

First you need to add your website in Google search console and verify it. Then you need to submit the requesting index to Google. When your website index in Google , you see the results on your website. 

If your website is not indexing make sure to submit the Sitemap which help you to get index your website fast. After that you are getting traffic and analyze it.

2. Performance Report

In Google Search Console there is a section of Performance Report you need to go there  where you can see your last 24 Hours to last 3 month data. You can also use custom ranges to see the results. Now there you just click on the Queries, this is basically the keywords on which your website is getting clicks and impressions.

You can check the report of :

  • Clicks
  • Impression
  • Device Information
  • Geographic Details
  • Keywords
  • Average CTR and Position
By using all this data you can easily analyze your website and check the performance and work on it.

Clicks

Clicks basically means how many people click on your website page or post. If your titles and On Page SEO is good you are getting more clicks. When people are searching anything in Google they see a lot of results but click on the top pages.

Check the Pages on which you are getting low click and then you will improve them. Find the tops keywords related to the page content which Keyword difficulty is low and add them in your content.

Impression

Impression means how many times your website seen by the people from which some will click on it and some won't. To get more impressions on your website you need to focus on On Page SEO which is the most important part to get impressions.

When your site getting more impressions means you get more traffic so, focus on On Page SEO and avoid keyword stuffing.

Device Information

Now the device don't directly effect your website SEO it just give you information about website. So you understand from which devices you are getting more traffic. Then you need to optimize your website according to that device.

Geographic Details

The most important thing is the countries from which you are getting traffic. If you are working on a micro niche then you know about your country because in that you only target one specific country.

Check the details of country, then you only need to target that country keywords and content. When finding keywords make sure search for only that specific country.

Keywords or Queries

You see all your website top and low keywords on which your website are getting traffic and impressions. Along with the CTR means how many people click your website and how many don't.

To use it , you just find the low keywords which are getting too much clicks and make sure to use them properly in your content. Use those keywords in URL, Title, and the first paragraph of your page.

Average CTR and Position

CTR means Click Through Ratio, it means that how many people click on your web page when they see it in Google search results and how many don't. If your CTR is high means your website is getting more clicks. Find the keywords and pages on which your CTR is low then optimize that keywords and use them in your content.

Position means at what page and position your web page is ranking. It ranges from 1 to 100 and so on. If your website position is from 1 to 10 then it means you are on the top first page. But if your website is far from it you need to work on those pages.

3. Fix Underperforming Pages

  1. Use the Pages tab in Performance section.
  2. Compare the last 28 days with the previous period.
  3. Find pages where clicks have dropped.
  4. Also check the keywords below the position of 10.
  5. Use all those keywords in those pages which clicks are dropping.
  6. Make sure to use keywords naturally don't do keyword stuffing.

4. Increase Speed of the website

By using the Core Web Vitals you can analyze your website for both mobile and desktop it show you all the performances of your website on both devices. There you can see:

  • LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) to Compress images and use lazy loading.
  • FID (First Input Delay) which help to Reduce JavaScript bloat.
  • CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) which Reserve space for images and ads.
 

Overall 

Make sure to check the performance on the daily basis. In the query section you will find new keywords on which your web pages are getting traffic. Then this is the new opportunity to use that keywords as a separate topic. Submit the sitemap on the regular basis which help the crawler to read your website easily and get index fast.

Check your post and pages URL in the inspection tool to see either they are index or not. If your pages are not index and then you can send the indexing request to Google. Overall, Google Search Console is the tool without using it you can not grow your website traffic.
